Office of Civic Life
Coming Soon – Center for Civic Education & Justice
On July 1, 2026, the Office of Civic Life (OCL) will unite with Diversity and Social Justice Education (DSJE) to form the new Center for Civic Education & Justice. This consolidation aims to uphold the Student Affairs commitment to building a community that fosters belonging, imagines possibilities, enhances learning, and makes a societal impact. As part of this new unit, we are looking to hire a new Assistant Director of Civic Engagement, who will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and assessing civic engagement programs that prepare students to be active citizens, advance social justice and responsibilities, and build partnerships with communities on and off campus. The application will close on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
The Office of Civic Life (formerly the Office of Volunteer Programs) cultivates community partnerships that are designed to give students multiple entries to explore pathways to community involvement, global awareness, and civic responsibility. We play a vital role in shaping the development of Illinois students through creation and implementation of intentional co-curricular and curricular programs, professional development activities, service education, and reflection. Civic Life will enable students to realize, discuss, and address critical, societal issues and gain the knowledge and capacity to be lifelong agents of change worldwide.
